A significant portion of my research in recent years has focused on the history of Rice University. Work of mine contributed to the Task Force on Slavery, Segregation, and Racial Injustice’s update on slavery and to forthcoming publications on the university’s twentieth- and twenty-first century history.
I am currently working on a history of Rice University’s Baker Institute, utilizing collections housed in the Woodson Research Center, some of which were stored at the Baker Institute until only recently. I am also utilizing oral histories, since almost everyone involved in founding the Institute is still alive. The final product of this research is yet to be determined.
